Flight Across Africa
Hello! I had fun with the latest challenge at The Library Challenge which features the book Five Weeks in a Balloon. I was not familiar with the story but did some research and learned it was about
"a scholar and explorer, Dr. Samuel Fergusson, accompanied by his manservant Joe and his friend professional hunter Richard "Dick" Kennedy, who set out to explore and travel across the African continent in a balloon." I took inspiration from the colors and layout of the cover but added reference to the story by including a map of their travel in Africa.
Supplies used: Balloon stamp from Repeat Impressions; Memento Toffee Crunch Ink; Copics for coloring; Distress Oxide Ink Broken China for Water Coloring the Sky; Cloud EF from Darice; Explore sticker from stash; Aqua and White Card Stock; Map printed from Internet; Foam.
Challenges:
CRAFT Challenge: #520 Inspired by a Film. There was also a film "Five Weeks in a Balloon" directed by Irwin Allen and starring Red Buttons, Fabian, Barbara Eden, Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Peter Lorre, Richard Haydn, Barbara Luna

Flying High
Hello! Would it not be fun to take a flight in a Hot Air Balloon and chase your dreams? That is what I was thinking as I designed this card using a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and colors from Color Throwdown. I stamped 3 Hot Air Balloons with Repeat Impressions stamps, colored with Copics BG01, B29, N4, and N6, and fussy cut the images. I embossed a white panel with Darice FF Clouds. Added a Laurel Burch sentiment with Memento Gray Flannel ink. I assembled the card with a Base of Aqua CS, a strip of Embossed Blue CS, and the balloons above the clouds. I sponged the clouds with a bit of blue and gray.
Guess I'll stay grounded....my DH has no desire to fly in a Hot Air balloon.

Birthday Ride in Clouds
Welcome! I made this card by creating a background by inking a white CS with Distress Oxide Ink Faded Jeans and embossed this with Darice EF Clouds. Inked the clouds lightly with Brilliance Moonlight White ink. The Repeat Impressions sentiment and hot air balloons stamps were inked with Memento Tuxedo Black. I colored the Balloons with Copics and fussy cut them and attached with foam tape. Added some dots of Red Berry Nuvo Crystal. Finished with mats of Red and Yellow and card base of White.

Away We Go
Hello! Thanks for dropping by! Summertime is a great time to take a Hot Air Balloon ride especially over a lake. I created this scene with image stamps from Repeat Impressions and a sentiment stamp from Gina K. After stamping the Balloon and Scene on White CS, I colored with Distress Oxide Inks using a water brush and stamped the sentiment with Oxide ink. Love the finished project.
Oxide inks used: Broken China, Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint, Cracked Pistachio, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber.

Summer Fluttering By
Hello! This year seems to be going so quickly. It soon will be time for the Hall Of Fame's Balloon Classic in Canton, OH and we may again see the balloons flying by our house. With that in mind, I thought it was appropriate to make this card for the sketch challenge at The House That Stamps Built using Repeat Impressions Hot Air Balloon stamps with one of their sentiment stamps ( one of my faves for cards with flying images). I made the background by embossing Blue CS with Clouds EF .....I tried to heat emboss clouds with White Puff EP but that did not turn out like I wanted. So. I just added white accents with a white pen. Balloons were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. I cut them with Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles dies and added Red Circles cut with Spellbinders Circle dies. The cloud for the sentiment was cut free hand and popped up on another Circle of Red. All was arranged on a White Card Base according to the sketch below.

Retro Rubber Challenge: #41 Color Challenge Red, White and Blue. I have had these balloon stamps since May 2014. I can trace the date from older posts on my blog.
As You Like It Challenge: Favorite Die and Why. I think the circle dies are my favorite because they were my very first to own and I used them more than any ones that I have. They may be plain but great to have AROUND.
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #91 Code word is FLY.
Happy Little Stampers: Anything goes with dies.

Time for Dreams
Hello! Today I am playing with a Sketch Challenge and Stamps from Repeat Impressions. I decided to use red, white and blue as my colors ....thinking of Memorial Day. This card could be used for graduation or another type of celebration. The larger balloon was fussy cut and popped up with craft foam. Finished the inside with a favorite Repeat Impressions sentiment.

Dream Up In the Sky
Hello! Today I am playing with the Photo Inspiration challenge from The House That Stamps Built. I knew I wanted to use the Hot Air Balloon stamps from Repeat Impressions on my card. I pulled out a pattern paper from a Paper House pad At The Vineyard to create the quick background for the balloons. I stamped the balloons with Memento Espresso Truffle ink and paper pieced 2 of them with Fancy Pants scraps and colored 2 with Copics. I fussy cut the balloons and attached to the scene and stamped the Repeat Impressions sentiment with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

Dreams Take Flight
Hello! I'm flying high again with the Hot Air Balloon stamps from Repeat Impressions using their Sketch Challenge shown on the right. I love when I have Pattern Papers that combine so well with my stamps. I started with a Red Card Base and added a Pattern Paper from Fancy Pants Wonderful Day pad. I cut squares of 2 other patterns from this pad and topped them with a white square stamped with the RI Large Hot Air Balloon which I colored with Copics BG72, Y32, R 27. In the lower right corner, I stamped the smaller RI Hot Air Balloon to fill in the empty space and added the hanging rope with pennants to copy the design of the paper. To finish, the sentiment from Repeat Impressions was stamped in Memento Red ink on White CS and inked around the edge with BG72, the same as the image.

Up, Up and Away
Hello! I recently won some stamps from The House That Stamps Built including this Repeat Impressions Hot Air Balloon Cluster. I used this stamp with some new pattern papers that I had purchased which had a paper design with hot air balloons. I stamped the balloons with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a blue cardstock from stash that I embossed with clouds using a Darice embossing folder. I colored the clouds with a white pencil. I then paper pieced the balloons with 3 different pattern papers. Following the sketch shown on the left from The House That Stamps Built challenge I built my card with more of the pattern papers from Fancy Pants Designs Wonderful Day and Happy Go Lucky pads. I added a clear epoxy sticker Celebrate Today from Clouds Designs.

Up, Up and Away!
Happy Friday! For this card I have used some embellishments by Jolee's that I have had in my stash for years...one of those items that I just had to buy but had no plan how to use when I purchased. I decided it was time to use these fabric embellies when I read the challenge at City Crafter Challenge blog to make a card using a hot air balloon for their theme Up, Up and Away. I simply used a dark navy card base layered with a mat of red. I embossed a white card stock with Darice Cloud EF and sponged with Memento Summer Sky ink, added some green cardstock cut with fancy scissors and embossed with Cuttlebug Forest Branches EF, and attached the 2 hot air balloons popping out the bigger one. Finished with GKD sentiment stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink. Now to find a person and a reason to send the card.
I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa
