Quick and Easy Valentines

Welcome friends! I am sharing 4 Valentine cards that I quickly made using some of the same products. Supplies used were White Cardstock, Pink Cardstock, Patterned papers from a Pack purchased at Joann's several years ago, Spellbinders Scalloped Heart Dies, Polka Dots EF, Martha Stewart Border Punch, Gina K stamps, Winnie & Walter stamps, and Pink Inks.  I used both negatives and positives of the die cuts when I assembled my designs.

Hearts with Love

Welcome to my studio!  I have created 2 cards for the Twofer Card Challenge which is Hearts.  I used the same small hearts stamps from GKD You Have My Heart set.  I also used the same Scalloped Heart dies from Spellbinders but that just happened by chance.  The Musical Valentine card shown on the left features partial die cutting and  guitar and sentiment stamps from the same set as the hearts.  I doodled some dots around the white heart. Used Memento Lady Bug ink and Red and White CS.

The Birthday card uses the same heart stamps hanging from a GKD branch stamp that I modified to be a tree. The word stamps are from Winnie & Walter set.  Used Memento Lady Bug, Bamboo Leaves, and Rich Cocoa inks with White and Fresh Asparagus CS. Embossed white layer with Cuttlebug Wicker Weave EF.  I was going to make the theme of this card All Things Grow with Love but that did not work out.

Challenges:
Twofer Card Challenge: Challenge #23 Two different designs for two different occasions using the same stamps, stencils, and/or dies. Theme is Hearts.
Happy Little Stampers: January Anything Goes with Dies.
Dies R Us Challenge: #136 Anything Goes using any brand of metal die that DRU sells.
CAS Mix Up Card Challenge: Partial Die-cutting + Stamping + Your Choice.  Did some doodling with Alcohol Marker.

Lacy Butterfly

Second post today:
I am still playing with butterflies!  I was not sure that I liked this card until I saw it in the photo and now I do like it.    The card is a larger size (5.5"x7") than I usually make in order to best show the butterfly which I cut with Cheery Lynn Lace Flourish Butterfly die that is 5.5"x3.5".  To make this design, I embossed the Butterfly on Yellow CS with the die and then colored areas of the embossed image.  I then cut the butterfly from White CS and attached it above the embossed one.  This called for a Bold sentiment so I stamped a Winnie & Walter bold Hello with Memento ink and added some Clear Star pen for shine.  Finished with assorted sequins from my stash.  I think this would qualify as a One Layer Card?

Challenges:
Butterfly Challenges: #32 Butterflies + S for Sequins.  This is a new challenge to me and first time to enter.  The challenge is always Butterflies but with the addition of an item/ theme beginning with a chosen letter.
The Card Concept : #37 Butterfly Effect. I consider this Clean and Simple.
Addicted to CAS: #65 Code word is Butterfly

Geometric Design

 Second Post today:
Hello! Today I was just playing and decided to go out on a limb with this Runway Inspired Challenge and do something geometric which is very unusual for my style.  But I have always enjoyed working with geometric designs having spent a lot of time doodling with geometric shapes but do not use often in my card making.   I was challenged with the Runway photo on the right to use the colors Blue, Orange, and a nude shade.   I used a Winnie & Walter Geometric design that I downloaded from this post on their blog.  I colored the design using Photoshop and printed it as a background for my card.  I used stamps from Winnie & Walters The Big, the Bold and the Happy set and cutout the Hello using the Cameo and a file also from W&W. I added some shine with a Clear Star pen and Shimmer spritz  to capture the shimmer from the fashion garment but it does not show very well in the photo.
Used Memento Grape Jelly ink and Orange CS Card Base.

Challenges:
Runway Inspired Challenge: RIC#84 Custo Barcelona fashion shown in photo. Used colors and geometrics from photo.
Winnie & Walter Blog: Geometric Challenge -use geometric element in your design and use Winnie& Walter products. Check out their other great geometric designs.

Happy Abstract Design

Today I have a card that I made for Runway Inspired challenge using a photo of a dress by Nonoo for my inspiration.   I created an abstract background that looks like a swatch of the fabric in the dress design.  I used watercolor paper with Distress Ink Broken China and Memento Tuxedo Black ink to create the look and layered this on Black CS and a base card of Blue.  Added some pops of red color in the Sentiment and Circles.  Stamp is Winnie and Walter The Big, the Bold and the Happy and Ink is Memento.  Finished with snippets of ribbon.

A CAS Hello!

Hello! Stopping by with a quick  card for the Challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch. I made this with a Navy card base and added a cut out made with a geo-die on Pink CS with a White back which showed when the die is folded.  I stamped a Winnie and Walters bold sentiment with Memento Nautical Blue on White CS and fussy cut and added to die cut.  I thought this was a dramatic card using the dark base.

Birds and Bows

Hello!  I am working from my Florida "studio" with limited resources so I am doubly challenged making cards for my blog.   Also I am still trying to locate a good spot for photographing my projects.  For this card,  I used a topper with birds and bows combined with snowflake and polka dot papers all with gold foil accents that are from a Luxury Card Kit called Festive Flourishes.   I attached these to a card base of blue cardstock and finished with ribbon and  bow of red organza with gold threads.  The sentiment tag was stamped with a Winnie and Walter sentiment and tied on with gold metallic ribbon.  This was a simple enough card and qualifies for the following challenges:

Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge: Something beginning with B--used bows, bird, birdhouse, blue CS
Merry Monday Christmas Challenge: #144 Bows
The Glory Of Christmas Challenge:  Spots and/or Stripes
ABC Christmas Challenge: Bows, Bunting,  or Baking. Used bows.
Simon Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes
Fab 'n' Funky: Challenge is Christmas

Up, Up and Away on a Beautiful Day

Welcome to my blog!   This was a fun card to make.  I started with one hot air balloon but my DH said the card needed more so I added 2 more.  I stamped all 3 Hot Balloons with Repeat Impressions Stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black on an Ivory paper from stash and colored with Blue and Green Copics.   I also stamped Happy Birthday on one balloon with Winnie and Walter stamps.  The Repeat Impressions verse was stamped on the lower right corner.  I followed the Sketch shown below. I used the Blue and Ivory Dotted Fancy Pants paper from the Collecting Memories pad and the Green CS was from Bazzill.

Coloring Vellum

Welcome!  This card was inspired by a video about coloring vellum from Jennifer McGuire seen here. I just had to try her tips and techniques.  I stamped Flowers and Leaves from Technique Tuesday Two Stepping set with versamark on clear vellum and heat embossed with white EP. I colored the backs of the images with Memento Markers Angel Pink, Rose Bud, Lilac Posies, Bamboo Leaves, New Sprout, Cantaloupe, and Dandelion. I fussy cut the flowers and leaves. I cut a banner with Cameo from pink vellum and white cardstock. I heat embossed W&W's Happy Birthday on the vellum and layered on the white banner.  Using a White CS Card Base,  I added  a layer of white embossed with Cuttlebug  EF Wicker Weave and arranged and attached  the banner, flowers and leaves with Vellum tape.  Love the lovely texture and colors on this card.
Challenges:
CAS(E) this Sketch: See graphic on the right
Simon Wednesday:  Let's be clear!  Hope it's clear that I clearly used vellum.

Shake It Up

Hello!  I debated whether I wanted to make a shaker card but finally gave in and made a birthday card with stars and stripes with star confetti inside the star window.  I stamped the sentiment from Winnie and Walter's The Big, The Bold, and The Happy set  in the back of the window.  I always find it hard to photograph shaker cards and capture the items shaking.  I made the window using an acetate recycled from the package of some dies. Star confetti was from stash as well as papers. I used Sizzix die to cut the stars.

Challenges:
Simon Wednesday: Shake It
Cute Card Thursday: Reach for the stars.
Seize The Birthday: Option for toppings-Stars and Stripes
Crafty Catz Challenge: Stars or Stripes or Both
Just Add Ink: #221- Shakers
Papertake Weekly: Stars and Stripes

Birthday Tag for Distress Ink Challenges

As promised, I am back with a entry for Day 5 of  at Winnie and Walter's Blog. The challenge is  Tag It!  Incorporate a tag, Distress Ink and w&w products into a  project.    I began by cutting a piece of Coral Card Stock into a tag shape and added 2 layers of Watercolor paper colored with Distress Inks.  Actually these papers were some leftovers from earlier projects. I stamped words from Winnie and Walter's Stamp Set The Big, The Bold, and The Happy on the top layer using DI Picked Raspberry and added some sequins.  I searched my box of ribbon scraps for colorful ribbons to finish the tag.  I was aiming for my design to be an explosion of colors and of an abstract nature. I hope I succeeded.

Tropical Sunset Found on My Desk

If you have been on my blog this week, you know I have been having fun with Distress Inks at Winnie & Walter's Blog.   Day 4 is featuring Tim Holtz Distress Inks  using Stencils/Masks.  Check out the details here.  I found this challenge easier to make a card for than anticipated.  I had some leftovers on my desk from an earlier challenge (posted here)  using  Distress Inks.  As I was looking over some of my previous attempts to make backgrounds on watercolor paper, I decided this colored paper, when turned just right, looked like a tropical sunset and I came up with the idea of using a Palm Tree stencil to make this project.  I used DI Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo, and Brushed Corduroy to color in the tree and Vintage Photo for the Hello from Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold, and The Happy stamp set. I trimmed the paper and added to a coral card base.  Easy enough!!   Distress inks used on background were Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, and Barn Door.

I had forgot all about these old stencils that I had.....came across them on the hunt for something else. Have no earthly idea where they were  originally from.  But I was glad to have found in time for this challenge.

Stay tuned....will be right back with a final entry for Day 5.

Charmed by Love

Another post playing with Distress Inks and Winnie & Walter.  Winnie & Walter's Share the Love Week is featuring Tim Holtz Distress Inks  all week and are having some challenges for us to join in the fun.  Day 3 they are doing   the technique Resist! For the challenge use some embossing powder or paint with your Distress Inks.

My card began with stamping love from Winnie & Walter's set The Big, The Bold and The Happy, and also  a charm stamp with versamark and embossed with Ranger White EP on a piece of watercolor paper.   I then put some Wild Honey, Picked Raspberry, and Barn Red distress Inks on a craft sheet and  sprayed water over the ink and then put the paper down on the watery ink  and played with this until I had an effect that I liked. I dried the paper, trimmed to the correct size and attached to a Yellow Card base.  To finish, I stamped one more heart charm on a leftover scrap with Versamark and heat embossed with White EP. But on this charm I also stamped and embossed  a small LOVE from the same Stamp Set mentioned above.  I inked this with Wild Honey DI and trimmed out the charm and attached with glue dots. Added some Glossy Accents to the charms.
