Down On the Farm on Sunday Afternoon

Welcome! When I saw the challenge at Craft a Scene  this month was Down On the Farm, I knew immediately the digi image that I wanted to use for an entry.  It is Country Path and was from Digi Doodle Shop that is no longer in business.  I have many of their digis and  just love this scene.  Using Photoshop Elements, I also added a digi from Paper Cupcakes called Sunday Afternoon of a girl walking with her duck.  This was a fun project and I like how it turned out.  I resized the scene, printed on white card stock, colored with copics and markers, silver metallic jelli-ink pen,and sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink.  I drew the birds in by hand. I adhered the image to a tan colored mat to which I did some embossing and stamped the verse from Flourishes with Memento Rich Cocoa. I think the navy base card was the right finish.  I like to keep cards with scenes free of embellishments focusing on the scene and often do not use sentiments but liked how this verse fit with my card.

I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Back to Card Making and Blogging

Hello everyone. Sorry I have not been posting cards much of late. But I am ready to get back into a routine of card making and blogging again. We arrived home form our six weeks stay at Captiva Island last Monday and life has been busy getting back to a normal routine.  This week has been spent with unpacking, laundry, cleaning, yard work,  and enjoy the summer like weather. Now for a card that I made today.

The challenge at There's Magic in the Air this week is Less is More.  I think my design is simple enough to qualify and I did not use many embellishments. I simply printed the Paper Cupcake image "Eggs-traordinary Find" and colored with Copics. Attached to an embossed mat and then to cardstock. Added ribbon and bow.

Make Everyday Beautiful

Can you believe all the snow in the northeast and  it's still October...at least we have not had any here in Ohio. I made this quick card for a couple of challenges to use pink. I printed the image "Softly Afloat" from Paper Cupcakes, one I have used many times. I colored the image in Pink and Black with Copics and a Black Glaze Pen. The image is on a mat of Black CS which I also used as the base. Added a mat of Floral Patterned Paper from my stash. Added a border of punched scallops (EK punch) and a strip of embossed (EF Polka Dots) pink paper sponged lightly with Memento London fog.  Placed a couple of Black Pearls in the corner. Finished with a ticket from Paper Cupcakes "Variety Sayings".

Cornucopia for Thanksgiving

I have long been a fan of Nina and her images at Paper Cupcakes and her challenges at There's Magic in the Air. I was thrilled to see that she is the sponsor this week at Sugar Creek Hollow and chose one of her images for the card that I made for their challenge. The challenge this week is to preserve the colors of fall by making a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card.  I used the image Cornucopia that I colored in Copics of fall colors and sponged the image with distress inks Antique Linen and Tea Dye. Added a sentiment from MFP's Country Thanksgiving stamped in Tea Dye .....think this font has a vintage look. To add more of a vintage feel, I placed the cut image on a torn rice paper mat. At least I think it is some kind of rice paper found in my stash that I had been saving. My card base is GKD's Pumpkin Spice CS that I distressed with scissors and sponged with the distress inks.To the base, I added a mat of parchment paper embossed with Victoria EF and also aged with distress ink. Distressed the edges with scissors. Added this very vintage looking and very old ribbon...at least I have it for a long time....to finish my design. I have used this image many times but this is my first card using it for this season.

Vintage Tea

Good morning. Do you have time for a cup of tea? This card fits a few challenges. At Sugar Creek Hollow, the challenge is called VINTAGE TEA. We are to create a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project featuring vintage tea pots and cups. I am also entering other challenges  to use lace/ribbon and lavender.
I used a Paper Cupcake digital image called "Teacup with Roses". I printed the image on a digital floral background found on my Photoshop files and adjusted the color to lavender and the size for my card dimensions. I then colored the image with Copics, added some Glitter to the lavender roses with Sakura Clearstar pen, and added Glossy Accents to the cup. Used a base card of Parchment CS, punched the edge with Martha Stewart Floral Lace Punch. Attached the image layer with a Doily section on the corner, vintage lace on the lower edge (Lined with dark lavender ribbon), and a sheer bow of lovely lavender. Added a strip of lavender paper to the inside under the punched edge to highlight the punched design. Sentiment from Flourishes stamped in SU green.

Another Post for today...this card is for There's Magic in the Air whose challenge is to go green by either making a card/project with greens/neutrals and/or reusing/recycling items in your project. I kind of did both as I use greens but also used up some small scraps in my stash. I used Card Patterns Sketch 136 to make a very simple card with these unidentified scraps on a card base of white cs. I printed the sentiment from Paper Cupcakes "Thankful Quotes" and placed on a mat of yet another green scrap and popped on with pop up dots after adding a green twine from Annabelle Stamps. Quick, clean, and green and and I used up a few scraps.

Sending Love Your Way

The challenge at There's Magic in the Air is to make a special card for someone special. I used a Paper Cupcakes' image "Sending Love Your Way" that I downloaded free a few weeks ago. Thanks , Nina. I have made this with some special sentiments from Little Claire Designs sentiments from her "Dog Window" stamp set that I won. Also used some Honeycomb  Paper from Inky Antics on the inside that I bought this spring...just been waiting to use in a special card.
I colored the image with Copics and matted on blue cs and a mat of striped paper from We R Memory Keepers Scrapbook paper and a solid blue cs mat. Placed this on a blue card base from stash  using a sketch from The Sweet Stop.  I finished the outside of the card with ribbon, buttons, some red rhinestone bling, and a sentiment that reads "The most special thing about this card....." (continued on the inside).
The inside was finished with a balloon that I cut freehand  from the Honey Comb Paper and a string of twine. The sentiment "... is the person holding it." ...was stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink the same as the sentiment on the front. This was a fun card to design for a special person.

Down on the Farm

There's Magic in the Air had a freebie digi from Paper Cupcakes (download before Monday AM) that I used in my card for this week's challenge to use Pink, Brown and White. It seems there are some other challenges this week with a theme of Down on the Farm....which is a natural for this digi of a Chicken called "Bee-Ware".  I colored the chicken with pink and brown Copics that I had printed on white CS and cut out with Nesties Square. The sketch I used from Cupcake Craft was perfect for my card...even the sketch was done in pink and brown....color coordinates with my card.  Found some great ribbon in my stash that is in the perfect colors. Used a card base of White with a mat of Kraft (Brown)  topped with mat of Pink CS partly embossed with CB EF Argyle. Added that perfect ribbon and some brown brads. Attached the image matted on Kraft.  Finished with an epoxy sticker that I also found in stash.

Lemony and Limey

This week There's Magic in the Air has a sketch challenge. I was a bit confused by where the artist's back ground for the sketch ended or if the entire picture was the sketch. I chose to use the grey shaded portion as the sketch and considered the "Pages" as the artist's sketchbook that she used to feature her sketch. My card features "Simple Pleasures",  a digi from Paper Cupcakes. I used 3 Pattern Papers from stash and Yellow CS. Used Blossom and Circle Nesties Dies to cut the base of card and Mats. Printed the image on white CS and colored with Copics and cut out with square Nesties but free cut the balloons extended outside the square. Added some glitter with Sakura Clear Star. Finished with yellow satin ribbon and an Epoxy sticker.

Poppies in Pink

At There's Magic in the Air, Jennifer presented us with a sketch challenge this week. I made my card using Paper Cupcakes' Digital image "Poppies" that I colored with Copics and added some Sakura Yellow Glaze in the center. I used DP's from BasicGrey "Sweet Threads" and Pink CS from my stash for the card base and mat for the image. Finished with a paper flower that was in my collection with yellow gemstones. It is so hard to photograph pink and get the right color on the screen but this is close, I think.

Collection of Bottles from Digital Images

At There's Magic in the Air this week, Patti wants us to get inspired by a beautiful picture of bottles. So I decided to literally make my own picture of bottles. Through the magic of manipulating digital images,  I used 3 Paper Cupcake digis -Softly Afloat, Peony in a Bottle, and  Deco Flower Vase 2- to create my picture. Do you recognize the parts I used? All images available at Paper Cupcakes (Watermark copies of Digis Shown)
Softly AfloatPeony In BottleDeco Flower Vase 2
I colored the image with Copics B000, Bg01,05,07,10,11,15, C1, E53,55,59, and YG67 and added some highlights with Sakura Glaze Pens in Yellow and Green and Atyou Spica Pen in gold. Cut this out with  Nesties Labels 4  and matted on Kraft CS. Used sketch from Truly Scrumptious for my layout. Papers from stash.  Did some faux stitching to finish .
Challenges:

I realized as I posted this that I left off my bling and sentiment...OOPS!
Maybe will edit later with corrected photo.

Moonscape

I have made several cards with the Paper Cupcakes image "Beached Boat" by Nina and it is one of my husband's favorites.  I wondered if I could make a moonscape using this image and set about to do so. After printing the digital image on white CS, I colored it using Copics C1,3,9, BV 23,25,29, and W1 leaving the sky blank. I then used a versamark pen on all the design including the bird and embossed with clear EP. I then stamped in some "sea grass" with versamark using an Annabelle stamp from "All Things Grow". I heat embossed the grass with Black EP.
I cut a circle with Nesties die and used it as a mask over the boat and sponged in the sky with Memento Paris Dusk and SU Night of Navy. Sponged some Memento Tuxedo Black around edges of sky. Removed mask and sponged some streaks of blue over the moon. I trimmed the scene and placed on a Silver Metallic mat and on to a card base of Black CS. Added some metallic stars from some confetti that I had. Stamped the GKD Sentiment "Happy Father's Day" with versamark on white CS and heat embossed with Silver EP. Sponged with the blue inks and then cut with Nesties small oval die. This finished my Moonscape Father's Day card. This was a card that I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I was pleased with the first try. Next time, I will try to improve the sponging of the sky. When I finished, I realized that this will meet several challenges out there this week.

Challenges:
There's Magic in The Air: This was the challenge that I had in mind as I worked. The challenge was to make anything male/masculine in a card. Of course I used the Paper Cupcakes image.
Cards For Men: Blue and Black is the color combo. Just happens that I used those colors.
Annabelle Stamps: Say it with Masking and Sponging...must have been thinking of this challenges as I worked. Did not start out as an entry for this challenge but certainly fits. Even used an Annabelle stamp.
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes
Digital Tuesday: In the garden or outdoors.
Alphabet Challenge: F is for Father's Day.
PaperPlay Challenge: Father's Day/Male card.
Delightful Challenges:  Father's Day
One Stop Craft Challenge: Father's Day
Crazy 4 Challenges: Make a masculine card.
Saturday Secret Crafter Challenge: Make a male card.
Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturday: Theme is Father's Day
Sentimental Sunday: Father's Day or Masculine Card with a sentiment.
Stamptacular Sunday: Challenge is Dads or Grads.

It took me longer to list the challenges than it did to make the card.
This was a difficult card to photograph...so many reflections...this was the best I could do after several tries.
It is really better in real life, trust me.
Thanks for stopping by! Theresa

Flowers in a Teapot

At There's Magic in the Air, Sheng brings us our challenge for  us to make our own flowers and then use them on our card/project. I used The Rose Teapot image from Paper Cupcakes. I took off the lid and filled the pot with handmade flowers. I colored the pot with Copics RV21 and 23 and Memento Bamboo Leaves Marker. I cut out the pot and placed on a circle cut with Nesties circle die and matted on a pink scallop circle cut with nesties die. Added my flowers and leaves into the pot. I arranged all following a sketch from Card Patterns. Added ribbons and a mat of Basic Grey Olivia. Finished by adding the lid to the side with pop ups. Planned to add Glossy Accents to pot and lid  but ran out of time. Will do later.
Challenges:
There's Magic in the Air: Use own flowers on a card.
Card Patterns: Sketch 117 shown on lower left.
Papertake Weekly:
PaperPlay Challenges: Blossoms and Blooms
