Groovy Times

Hello!  I got a bit carried away with the current groovy challenge at Retro Rubber....thinking about the 60's and bright colors brought to mind the hippy buses/vans of that time.  And so, I set out to create a card with that as my theme.  First, I found a digital image of a plain bus (shown below) that I colored in bright colors and images.  I searched my stash of stamps to find appropriate ones to create my "Love Bug".  Had fun doing this even though it took a while. All stamps used in the making of this cards are way older than 1 year, some going back to 2001....but none from the 60's. I was not stamping that far back even though I was around in the 60's.  I used Memento Inks and Copics for coloring.  I used all 5 bright colors in the challenge including purple for one heart. Since I did not want to have black windows, I added green shades to the side of the van and added a "sunshade" with flowers to the front.

Stamps Used: Butterfly and 1 flower from Annabelle Whimsey Flowers 2011, Sentiment and Swirl from Laurel Burch 2017, Word Love, Heart, and Pixie Alphabet letters from PSX 2001/2003, 2 Flowers from Papercraft gift 2019, Peace from GKD Christmas set 2018, Large Flower from Happy Little Stamps 2018.  Used a total of 14 stamps. Finished with Bright Yellow card base and Bright Green background of Bazzill Textured and Shiny CS. Colors are brighter in real life than in photo.

Watering Can with Lilacs

Hello! Thanks for stopping by, Today I am sharing a card that I created for the Double D Challenge Something with a Handle. I made this a couple of days ago and forgot to post until today.  I used stamps and dies from a Hero Arts kit from July 2017.  The watering can was stamped on and cut from silver metallic CS and I used white CS and Copics for the Lilacs,  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Wow Silver EP. Used a shiny textured green CS from Bazzil for the background which made it hard to photograph because of the reflection.

Fun with Stenciling

Hello and welcome! It has been a while since I created a card using a stencil so thought it was time to do so.  I inked a white card stock with Gina K Ornamental Fans stencil using GKD Blue Raspberry and Fresh Asparagus inks and trimmed it to use as a background on my design, Stamped the flowers with Memento Back ink and heat embossed with Clear EP. I water colored the image with the same inks used in the background. I die cut the flowers and popped up with some white foam. I stamped and die cut   the word Hello and also popped up with foam. Finished the card with a White Card Base and Black mat. I really like these colors together and how the design came together since I did not have a plan in mind when I began. Stamps and Dies from Gina K Designs.

Using Some of My Stash

Welcome to the studio!  I have created some cards using some pre-embossed panels of white cardstock that I had filed away.....not sure why I did this but I have a stack of several panels embossed with several different embossing folders.  I chose 3 precut and pre-embossed panels with Cuttlebug Leafy Branch EF. For the first card, I colored the raised design with DOI  Peeled Paint using a pod and attached to a Green Mat and White Card base. I added several Butterflies die cut from scraps of Yellow CS using Sue Wilson Petite Butterflies dies (NBUS). Finished with words die cut with Cheery Lynn dies.

The second card was made in a similar way but used a different green ink and darker green mat. The butterflies are cut from the smaller dies from the same set by Sue Wilson and cut from scraps of a patterned paper shown on the side in the photo. Used a Cheery Lynn die for the word Thanks.

For the third card, I had used the Leafy Branch EF but also had embossed the panel with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots.  Not sure which EF that I used first but I had colored the raised dots with Navy Ink and the branch with Green Ink using pods to color the raised areas.  It was some time ago that I did this embossing and coloring and put away to finish at a later time.  I completed this card using some Marianne Design Creatable dies.  The bird was cut from a Red scrap and raised on some red foam. The birdhouse was cut from some Brown foam and I inked the raised area with dark brown ink. (FYI I first cut the house from brown cardstock and cut the foam to layer but I liked the look of the foam for the house with out the paper better and eliminated the brown paper.)  The sentiment was stamped and die cut with Gina K Designs products.  Used Navy ink to stamp and white foam to raise. Attached the panel to a Navy Card base and assembled the elements using a bit of string to hang the birdhouse.

Pocket Birthday Card

Hello! I made this masculine Birthday card that was inspired by the challenge Can You Handle The Pressure?   which is to use anything with Embossing with a Twist of Plaid. I had a hard time finding  some plaid paper but finally found a scrap that I used on the card with embossing.  It seems that I have used nearly all the plaid papers that were in my stash.
Supplies: Memento Lady Bug Ink, Versamark Ink, Red Embossing Powder. Heartfelt Creations Pocket Stamp, Gina K Design stamps and dies from Enjoyable Greetings set, GKD Birthday sentiment.  Blue Card stock panels already embossed with Cuttlebug Gingham EF that I found in my stash. Plaid Mat embossed with Cuttlebug Wicker Weave (hard to see in photo). White CS Base. Gold Brads.  Square of leftover Pellon fabric that I stuffed in the pocket as a handkerchief.

Sunflowers for Ukraine

Welcome to the studio!  I have been playing with NBUS Gina K Designs Sketched Flowers Stamps and Dies to create this card which I recently purchased.   I stamped 4 flowers with DOI Fossilized Amber and stamped the centers with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and added some fock to the center for texture. When was the last time that I used that? Stamped some leaves and stems with Memento Bamboo Leaves. Die cut all these and arranged on my card. First, I prepared my white card base by embossing the front with Darice Floral Frenzy EF and partial die cutting the edge with the flower dies. The sentiment is from an older GKD set Hope is Faith.  Finished with some strips of yellow CS on the inside. Photo below shows inside and die cut edge.

A Pocket Full of Posies

Hello! When I saw the Double D Something with Pockets Challenge, I thought immediately of a Heartfelt Creations Stamp that I have had a long time, not telling just how long. So I pulled out that stamp and some flower stamps also from HFC and made this card. But I did not create a card that I was really happy with....maybe needed more in the background....seems to be too much white. And I did not like the way I colored the flowers....a bit boring and too much orange. I inked the floral stamp with markers and then added more coloring with Copics, pencils and finally used some glaze and gelly roll  pens. I stamped the pocket on a blue CS with orange ink to get the colored stitches like on denims. I stamped the sentiment with orange also but did not like so I stamped with Versamark and  used a bright yellow EP to make it show better. But the Yellow EP on the Blue CS turned green! Should have expected that! I fussy cut the pocket and attached over the  Stamped flowers. I first stamped the pocket on the white CS so the fringe would show under the pocket. Finished by popping up one flower on top of the pocket edge.  I used a blue card base. Well I did create a card with a pocket for the challenge BUT???
As I created this card, I was also thinking of Ukraine and their flag colors of blue and yellow and this inspire the design and sentiment used.

The Colors of Mardi Gras

Welcome to my studio! Today I had fun creating this card with a Mardi Gras theme. I used a clipart that I have in a file on my computer. I added the words with Photoshop and printed out the image on white card stock. Love that fanciful font. I enhanced the image with Gold Embossing on the mask and the holding stick and used Wink of Stella on the mask for more sparkle. After trimming the image, I inked the edges with a Pilot Metallic Gold Marker. I then embossed this with Cuttlebug Diamond Plate EF.  I assembled the card with a Green Card Base and a mat of Purple CS which I thought were appropriate colors for the theme. I purposedly place the mat at an angle....thought it added a bit of a jovial touch.  Finished with thin silk ribbons of Lavender, Gold, and Green on the mask. Thought that picked up on the printed ribbon dangling from the mask.

Luck of the Irish

Welcome! Today I have a St. Patrick's Day card that was created using elements that I had in my leftover stash. I have been trying to better organize items in my studio so I can better find things that I can put to use.  I came across a white cs background die cut with Spellbinders A2Divine Eloquence, some shamrocks cut with the Cameo using a Silhouette file, and a printed digital sentiment from Power Poppy.  I embossed the Shamrocks with Cuttlebug EF Tiny Bubbles. I die cut the sentiment with a label die and placed it on a mat of Green CS. (I created the mat by tracing the outline of the label die and fussy cut it from the green cs.) I assembled all my found elements on a Green Card Base that matched the Shamrocks and added in some Metallic Shamrock confetti from stash.  I finished the inside of the card with an Irish Blessing printed on the computer.
FYI-The white frame was also embossed with a Darice Floral EF but it does not show in the photo.
Challenges:

Photos Repurposed for Cards

I am on a quest to use some of the things that I have collected over the years. Today I am sharing how I have repurposed some more pictures from a box of old photos that did not make an album or a frame.  After trimming the images, I used these photos to create cards adding some dry embossing for textures, die cut words, layers of colored card stock and card bases.  Dies are from Cheery Lynn.  Embossing Folders used are Darice EF Leafy Tree and Cuttlebug EF Leafy Branch for the top card, Darice Border EF for second card (not sure of Name) and Darice EF Large Daisy and Cheery Lynn Butterfly Die used for embossing on the bottom card.  I am entering the cards in challenges not requiring stamping.
Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure? : Challenge is Embossing  with a Twist of Think Spring.
The Paper Players: PP581 Theme Challenge is Spring is in the air.
Die Cut Divas: The theme for March is Birthdays. I have used Cheery Lynn Dies and Embossing Folder.
