Making a Flower

Hello!  It has been a while since I built a flower with one of Susan's Garden dies.  I was inspired by the Photo Challenge at Just Us Girls to create a flower using Yellow CS for the Petals of a Dahlia and Green Scraps for the Leaves.  I used DI Spiced Marmalade to ink the petals before assembling. For the background of my card, I stamped Gina K Petite Flourish stamp with DI Frayed Burlap on Ivory CS and inked the edges using the ink pad. Stamped the sentiment from Power Poppy with the same ink and die cut with a label die. Assembled the card on Ivory card base.

Lace and Pearls

Welcome!  I have missed doing the Cupcake Inspiration Challenges but today I had time to create this card using a Lace Doily, Pearls, a Pansy made with Dies, and the color Lavender.   I think this qualifies for their Challenge 327 Lace.

Supplies: Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily Die, Sizzix Susan's Garden Pansy Dies, Nesties Circle Die, White and Lavender CS, Lilac Pattern Paper, Verve Sentiment Stamp, Memento Sweet Plum Ink, Pearls and Lacey Ribbon from Stash.

Other Challenges;
Simon Wednesday Challenge: Simon says Die Crazy. Used dies for Doily, Circle, and Pansy
Mod Squad Challenge: Make Flower the Focal Image of a card.
As You Like It Challenge: Favorite Die and Why.  I actually used 3 dies here. I guess I have to say the circle die is my most favorite because it the most used and versatile of all my dies.
The ABC Challenge: R is for Recipe. I used Flowers, Dies, and Purple in the middle row down  but also have Pearls, Purple, and Lace (Doily) from the bottom row.

April Showers

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Ohio but we had some showers late in the day.  I have another card made on a rainy day. This was embossed using Darice EF Raindrops on Blue CS.  I paper pieced the umbrella with a scrap, added an enamel dot, and used Clearstar Pen on the raindrops.  I trimmed out the rectangle with a Die Cut and attached Daisies made with Susan's Garden Dies and scraps of CS to white CS. The sentiment was printed on the computer. How does your garden grow?

Challenges:
Simon Wednesday Challenge: Simon says April Shower and/or Spring Flowers.
Addicted to CAS:  Code word is showers.

Have a great day! I love reading your comments. Theresa

Dahlias for My Darling

Hello!  Over a year ago I purchased some Susan's Garden Dies with a gift certificate prize  and have not used but one of them.   I decided it was time to learn to use and make more flowers.   I used Green and Pink Cardstock with the Dahlia dies and a Copic pen to shade the petals.   I'd like to get some Pan Pastels if I start making a lot of flowers.  I cut the petals and leaves and shaped and assembled them following a video by Susan.  it was quite easy and with practice I should improve and do faster.  I made the card using a Tuesday Morning sketch, Pink Card Base, layer of unknown pattern paper from my stash, a bit of lace, and white Sprinkles colored with Copic Marker.  The Repeat Impressions sentiment was stamped on Pink Scrap in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink ..... also edged this layer with the ink.

Challenges to enter:
Tuesday Morning Sketches: #286 Shown on right
Clear It Out Challenge: Theme and Stash is Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion: Always Anything Goes
Fab 'n' Funky: Challenge 245  is Hearts and/or Flowers
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge:  Technique Challenge- fashion 3D items on your project

Thoughts of Spring

Hello!  It is a cool and cloudy day in Florida so I took time to create a card for some challenges.  Have you seen that Joan (former owner of Joan's Gardens) of Joan's Touch is having  challenges on her blog?  This week the new owner of Joan's Gardens is offering a prize. Check it out here.
This week Joan has asked us to use 3 flowers , vintage colors, something for texture like mesh or tulle,  and a product sold at Joan's Gardens.  I had all the elements covered but the mesh or tulle and then remembered that I had a bag of potatoes in mesh packaging and it was a perfect color as well.  So I began my card.  The flowers were made using Susan's Gardens Dogwood dies made by Sizzix that I received from Joan's Gardens. I used white and green cs for the Dogwood Flowers and shaped with flower tools by Susan's Gardens also from Joan's Gardens.  I assembled the card with a base of GKD ivory cs , layered with floral pattern paper, then a layer of script pattern paper, pieces of mesh,  the dogwoods with some of the mesh layered underneath.  The patterns are all Graphics 45 Paper Pads. I finished the card with a coral Grosgrain ribbon highlighting the sentiment stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink on a rectangle from the Pattern Paper which was printed with the word Thoughts. The stamp from Flourishes Flowers for Jan Set reads "There is no charm equal to tenderness of the heart."   I loved the way this card came together with the vintage colored pattern papers and the lovely words and the final touch of the colored pearls.

Challenges:
Joan's Touch: Use 3 flowers , vintage colors, something for texture like mesh or tulle,  and a product sold at Joan's Gardens.  Susan's Garden Products and Graphics 45 Paper from Joan's Gardens.
Mod Squad Challenge: Thinking of  Spring....Dogwood always bring thoughts of spring.
Party Time Tuesday: Anything Goes
Simon Says: Anything Goes with Pearls

I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa
