Catch a Falling Star

Hello!  Playing again with August Hero Arts kit.  I made a galaxy sky background with Distress Oxide inks Faded Jeans, Fossilized Amber, and Wilted Violet on White CS. I used dies to cut the silhouette of the boy on the moon fishing from Black CS and the star from CS inked with Fossilized Amber ink. Sprayed them both with Gold Shimmer Mist from kit. Stamped the sentiment with black ink and embossed with Clear EP. Assembled all on Yellow CS. Used stamp for fishing pole.

Stamped the star with Distress Ink Fossilized Amber and added some shine with Clearstar pen and Metallic Gold Gelly pen.

Everything Rosy

Hello!  Have you ever created your own Pattern Paper?  I did using Photoshop and a single digital image.  I used the single rose image from Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile set  and arranged 36 roses on a panel 4" x 5.25", colored the roses red (through the magic of Photoshop), and printed this on white CS.  I then printed a sentiment and image from Power Poppy Everything Rosy set.   I colored the image with Copics and cut with an oval die and placed on a red oval mat. The sentiment was cut with a label die and edged with red ink.  I assembled the card using my "Pattern Paper" with a red card base and adding a Green Grosgrain ribbon with a blue thread that picked up colors in the image.
Challenge:
Power &Spark Challenge: Mix and Match Challenge-combine ANY KIND of Power Poppy stamp sets: Clear with Clear, Digital with Digital, or if you’re really feeling adventurous...Clear with Digital.  I used 2 digital sets Everything Rosy and Rose and Chamomile.

Butterfly with Tissue Paper Background

Hello! Some days a card is easier to make than others.  I found this card came together easy once I decided to use a large Butterfly stamp from  Repeat Impressions.  I decided to create the background with tissue paper using a watercoloring method.  I used Distress Inks Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, and Squeezed Lemonade to watercolor the tissue paper which I scrunched up and glued to a panel of White CS.  I stamped the Repeat Impressions sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black directly to the tissue paper layer.  I stamped the Butterfly with same black ink and colored with Memento Markers and fussy cut.  Assembled the card with an orange card base following a sketch from the challenge below and added some dew drops and a ring around the butterfly.

The House That Stamps Built: Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge A917.  Used Horizontal Top Row 1 and also Left Vertical Row.

Classic and Masculine

Welcome!  I recently won some digital images from MHK Designs and just had to use this vintage truck on a card.  I printed the truck and 2 of the sentiments from Various Vehicles set on heavy White CS.  I printed one of the sentiments in red to add a bit of color.  Added black brads to the tires and some glossy accents to the windows.  Finished with some score lines at the bottom edge to add more texture.  Quick and easy one layer card and a very masculine birthday card for my stash.

Playing with a Sketch

Hello! Some sketches call out to do something with die cuts instead of stamping.   I literally followed the layout below using Heartfelt Creation dies for the larger pink flowers ( layered with green brads), Cheery Lynn Mini Flourish die cut in Green CS,  and some smaller precut flowers with green centers(found in my stash).  Used an Ivory card base with Graphic 45 patterned papers. Embossed the green layer with CB Victoria EF.  Added words cut with Cheery Lynn Dies in Pink CS.

Bllack, White, and Green

Hello!  The challenge at Mod Squad is to Make a card with Black, White, and One Other Color.  Since I wanted to use a Power Poppy stamp (sponsor), I checked my PP stamps to find one that would look good stamped with just one color.   I chose a stamp from Sassy Succulents which I stamped with Distress Oxide Peeled Paint on White CS.  I stamped a portion of the stamp on the Green Strip with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. ( used masking and Misti to do this).  I chose not to fill in the stamped image but wanted the white to show through, but used a Stardust pen on the centers of  the succulents.   I stamped the sentiment from the same set with the Black ink.  The strip on the card is actually a strip of White CS that I inked with the Peeled Paint ink to match the color of the succulent.  I used a Black card base to complete the card and also used a Sketch challenge from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Summer Fun

Hello!  There are several card challenges for summer-beach-sun fun.  I used an older stamp from Just For Fun in my collection to create this card. It is called Sunset with Palms.  I stamped it on white CS with Memento Espresso Truffle ink and colored with Copics and Distress Oxide inks using the photo below that I found online.   I covered the image with a smokey photo overlay transparency that  darkened the colors a bit. (See photo below.)  I cut a mat of white CS and placed that over the image and overlay and attached that to Coral card base.  The sentiment from GKD was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink directly on the mat.  Other supplies used: Versamark ink, White and Clear EP.  Dimensions of the finished card are 6.5" x5.25".  The transparent overlay gives a nice shine to the card in real life.

Remember your Favorite Movie

Hello! What is your favorite movie?  I ask that question because this week's challenge DCC82 at The House That Stamps Built is to Stamp Your Favorite Movie.  My favorite movie is "An Affair to Remember", one that I could watch over and over and I have seen it many times.  I am a big Cary Grant fan and love all his films.   Now how could I stamp that movie?  I thought of the Repeat Impressions stamp that I used (see card) ....and the movie is certainly filled with moments that take your breath away.  I decided to marry the stamp with the Empire State Building ---used a printed image from a Silhouette file. Added some silver Metallic accents (hard to see) to the image and stamped the verse with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white CS and placed on a Dark Gray CS base.  Added a strip of Mirror Silver CS which was hard to capture in the photo.

My first idea for my movie card was to use an ocean liner with the sentiment which I did first.  I did an experiment with the Cameo to create the background.   Used a Silhouette cut file of an Ocean Liner but instead of cutting it,  I used the Fill Gradient tool to color the cut file and printed it instead of cutting.  After trimming the image, I edged one side with black ink and stamped the verse with Memento black ink.  Then simply attached to the White card base.  When I showed this to my DH and asked him what movie I was trying to stamp, his answer was the Titanic.  Guess it could be but I was thinking of the Ocean Liner in "An Affair to Remember".

Bluebird of Love

Welcome!  Summer nears an end with August already here.  For this card, I stamped GKD stamps from Birds and Blossoms set on water color paper with Memento Espresso Truffle ink.  I water colored the images with Distress Oxide inks Faded Jean, Broken China, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Walnut Stain, and Vintage Photo, and Distress Ink Forest Moss. I used a picture of a Bluebird as a guide for coloring.  After coloring, I did stamp the bird and stump a second time (using the Misti) with Espresso Truffle ink to bring out some of the details. Decided to keep the background clean to focus on the bird.  Added a Brown brad to accent the sentiment Used GKD Powder Blue CS as the base.

Challenges:
Mod Squad Challenge: The wing's the thing-use anything with wings as the focal.
Stamp TV: Mix It Up Monday challenge-watercoloring
Happy Little Stampers: August Watercolor challenge-anything goes with the optional twist Bloom
Less is More: Challenge #339 pierce your project.  Pierced my project with a metal brad.
