Count Your Blessings

Hello! It has been a while since I entered Sugar Creek Hollow challenge or Really Reasonable Ribbon challenge.  This week Sugar Creek Hollow has asked us to do a vintage card with a theme of A Child's Life.  I decided to use a digi image from A Day for Daisies, their sponsor for this challenge.  I printed "Night Time Prayers" on white card stock and colored the image using a lot of Copics for a pink and brown theme. I think this image has a great vintage look and I tried to add it more vintage feel by making the bedspread appear to be Chenille which I think is a very vintage fabric. I hope I succeeded. I chose the Pattern Paper for the wallpaper because of its vintage feel and made the sentiment appear to be a wall hanging above the bed. Another touch was embossing the Brown cardstock used for the carpet to give texture to the floor. I used gold parchment paper for the mat behind the image which I tore the edges and distressed with ink. Finished with pink organza ribbon topped with narrow brown organza ribbon and bow.
Challenges:
Sugar Creek Hollow: #67 Vintage card with theme A Child's Life
Really Reasonable Ribbon: #78  Pink and Brown with Ribbon Theme (Consider gold as a neutral color)

Thank You Card

I had decided that I would not make a card for Joan's Gardens Challenge this week but then I found some yellow tulle in my stash and decided I would give it a go.  The challenge is to make a card using 3 flowers out of vellum, use colors of golden yellow and violet , mesh or tulle, stencil on paper, and a product sold at Joan's.  I used clear vellum and colored it with Copics V09 and Y26 to cut flowers in violet and yellow gold using Heartfelt Creations Daisy Patch Dies (From Joan's) . I layered the flowers with tulle cut with the same dies to create the 3 flowers held together with gold brads. My card base is of Bazzill Textured Violet Cardstock is layered with Pattern Paper from Graphics 45  Once Upon a Springtime Pad (From Joan's )  that I stencilled with Blossoms and Ivy stencil  and a Thank You stencil using Distress Ink Peeled Paint.  This was the first time I used these stencils that I have had for a long time. I covered the pattern paper with the yellow tulle and then attached the three flowers.  I may have done the layout a bit differently if I had more time but I was working hurriedly to make the deadline. Check out the challenge here www.atjoansgardens.com

CAS with Coneflowers and Colors

Second Post today.  I am posting this for some challenges soon ending.  I made this for a color challenge at Annabelle Stamps Blog and a CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge.  I began with an Annabelle stamp from Whimsey Flowers stamping it in Memento Peanut Brittle ink and coloring with Copics YG 63, 95, YR 12, 18, 65 capturing all the 4 colors in the graphic below.  I fussy cut the flower without the frame that is part of the stamp.  I layered the flower on a strip of Rust Cardstock die cut with Spellbinder tag die. I stamped the sentiment from Annabelle's Squared Posies with versamark and copper EP. Assembled the card on a card base of Olive Green Cardstock with a embossed mat of White Cardstock that was done with Cuttlebug EF Divine Swirls.  I did change up the sketch a bit but think my card is close enough.

Love Is Sweet

Welcome to my studio! Today I am sharing a card made for Meljens Designs Challenge ...the theme is "you have been framed".  I have chosen one of her Freebie images " Love is Sweet" to be framed using Spellbinder Dies to create a frame of red and white.  After printing the image on white cardstock,  I colored with Copics R 20, 24, 29, E 00, 15, 17, 30.  My frame is red and white Pattern Paper from stash that I embossed with Cuttlebug EF Wicker Weave. I cut out a window and added a red mat before inserting the bear image. I finished with a card base of white cardstock, white satin bow, and red brad heart.

A Basketful of Flowers

Welcome!  Today I am playing with some new items....some that I have not used including a bicycle stamp, some new cardstock, and an embossing border.  I had more than one challenge in mind as I created this card.  I used stamps from Paper Such-Basketful of Flowers and stamped the bicycle and sentiment with GKD Black Onyx on a new Blue Cardstock. I embossed the top with Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Village Border and the bottom edge with Pop Culture Border which is new.  Because I wanted a basket of sunflowers for the bike,  I stamped Flourishes Sunflower wreath from Wreaths of Seasons with Memento Peanut Brittle ink and colored with Copics. I cut and fashioned the sunflowers from the wreath to fit in the basket. Guess I could have used the bike basket as it was but I wanted it to be more bold and colorful. I place the image on card base of Orange Cardstock that I just bought for my stash of papers.
Challenges:

Alphabet Challenge: N for newest stamp.  Not my very newest one but this one is new in the sense it has not been used.
All Sorts Challenge: Use new stash.  Using new Paper Such Stamps, Orange Cardstock, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Pop Culture, GKD Ink
Craft Your Passion: Summer Flowers
Oldie But A Goodie: Embossing.... The Cuttlebug Village EF and the stamp that I used for sunflowers are older than 6 months.

Pattern Papers + Stamp + Ink = Card

Hello again. I am back today with a card for 2 challenges.  I am using a sketch from Flutter by Wednesday challenge.  I used some pattern paper as inspiration for this card.  The pattern papers are from My Mind's Eye paper pad Lost & Found.  I simply adhered a mat of light colored pattern to a card base of light pink card stock.  I then cut sections of  a pattern paper with the bird and sentiment and arranged with a strip of a darker floral pattern following the design of the sketch.  I placed a square of a script pattern paper to a light pink mat and stamped that with a butterfly stamp from Repeat Impressions using Memento Rose Bud ink.  I attached that at a slight angle to the card to make more interesting.  I did some dry embossing on large mat with Cuttlebug EF Polka Dots.

Chill Out With Ice Cream

I am running a bit late with this card for Crafty Sentiments Designs Challenge here to use dies and punches but I think I have time to get it in.  We are to use Dies and Punches. I am using the digi Ice Cream Sunday Harriet which I colored with Copics and cutout with a Spellbinder die and placed on a mat of pink atop a mat of Ice Cream Digi paper, a freebie from GKD.  I used a MS Border Punch Scallop Dots across the bottom edge of the mat and adhere to a card base of pink. The sentiment from Repeat Impressions was stamped with Memento Rose Bud ink.  I had used Harriet (but as a blonde) on a very similar card which I have shown at the bottom of this post.  I forgot I had used the same sentiment and digi paper as I did today.

I am also entering this for the Charisma Cardz Challenge which is Ice Cream....my flavor is strawberry if you want to know the flavor of Harriet's cone. By the way Crafty Sentiments Designs is one of the sponsors here this week.

Inspired By Sunflowers

Welcome!  If this card looks similar to my last one posted, it is because I have used the similar papers and same stamps but a different sketch.  I decided to go with another sunflower theme card using sunflower stamps from GKD A Year of Flowers and Pressed Flowers. I stamped one sunflower several times on to White CS with Distress Ink Wild Honey for one layer and another sunflower on white CS with Memento Peanut Brittle ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut it to layer on the top layer of gold CS.  Following the sketch from The Sweet Stop I assembled all the layers including GKD  Honey Mustard CS for the card base, then layer of Pattern Paper from GKD Sun-Kissed Autumn, the stamped layer, a strip of another Pattern from Sun-Kissed Autumn and then the top layer with the sentiment from GKD Buds and Flowers stamped in Memento Potter's Clay ink. Finished with 3 Dew Drops.

Thinking of You

Today I have made a card for Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday Challenge  and for Sweet Sunday Sketch 191 shown on lower left.  For STV we are to make a card using one of the earliest Stamp Sets bought from GKD.  One of my first sets was Melanie's A Year of Flowers (2008) and has been the one that I used many times. I stamped the Sunflower in Memento Peanut Brittle on GKD White cardstock and colored with Copics  and highlighted with glaze pen,  I cut out the image with Nesties circle and edged with a Copic marker.  Following the sketch I assembled the card using GKD Honey Mustard CS for the card base, a mat  and strip of GKD Pattern Papers from Sun-Kissed Autumn,  and another strip with the sentiment from Say It With Flowers from GKD.  I stamped and fancy cut some ladybugs on scraps of Red CS with Memento Tuxedo Black ink for embellishments.

Remembering Black and White Photos with Sassy Cheryl

Welcome!  Today I have new type of challenge for me. Have you ever created a black and white photo-look with a digital stamp or any stamp?  Neither have I.   I am giving it a try for the challenge at Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge.  We are to make a "Black & White Photo-look" with a Sassy Cheryl stamp.   First I thought of using a photo editing program to create the look of a black and white photo but then I decided the  thing to do is to use Copics to create the look.
After printing My Favorite Kind of Weather, I colored the image with Copics C 00,1,3 , N 0,2,4,7, W1, E 000, BV 23 using every gray shade that I have.  I trimmed the image and placed on scrap of a DCWV La Creme Matstack for the background, a card base of light gray cardstock, and finished with a sentiment from Creative Clear Stamps "Hello Hunny".   I just had to add a touch of red to the lady bugs on a whim.  This was fun to create.

Autumn Colors

Hello!  This cooler weather brings thoughts of fall to mind and Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge #233. We are to use autumn colors on our creation.  For my entry, I have used  one of my favorite Flourishes stamp sets A Year in Flowers.  I stamped the Tiger Lily in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on white card stock and colored in Copics using fall colors of oranges, greens, and browns.  I framed this in Brown Cardstock using Nesties Square dies to create the frame. I placed this on an orange mat embossed with Darice EF Chevron, wrapped in a brown organdy ribbon, and then adhered to a card base of brown. I finished with a sentiment from Flourishes Taglines in Memento Rich Cocoa and tied on a bow.  Orange paper is from My Mind's Eye Indie Chic Saffron paper pad.

Flourishes Color Challenge

Hello!  My card today is for Flourishes August Release challenge to use the colors shown above. Details here. I interpreted these to be a teal, rust and gray.  I stamped  the Flourishes' Anemones image on white cs using Memento Gray Flannel and colored with Copics BV 15, 27 and YR12,14,18.  My card base is Gray CS layered with a mat of teal and mat of rust.  I darkened the teal cs with Distress Ink Blue to make even darker. Attached a seam binding tape to the image and adhered to the card. Finished with a sentiment from the same set and used the gray ink on scallop diecut.  I really like the way that I captured the colors and stayed with them throughout.

Teddy Bears Picnic

A favorite challenge of mine is Craft a Scene...I always look forward to their monthly challenge.  The theme for the month of August is "In the Park" with a twist for an extra prize if you can make it a "Picnic in the Park".  I decided to make a card with LOTV's Teddy Bear picnic stamp shown in a park setting complete with ants....what's a picnic without the ants?  I stamped the Teddy Bears on white cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, masked the image and stamped trees from GKD's The Northwood Trees which were bare so I colored in leaves with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.  I colored the bear image with a lot of Copics, sponged the Sky with Memento Summer Sky ink, and colored the grass with pencils and OMS. My ants were drawn in with black glaze pen and black pen. The lady bug stamp from Annabelle Stamps was stamped with black ink onto red cardstock scrap and cut out and attached with a glue dot....added legs and antennae with pen. Added a butterfly brad for more interest. Stamped birds in sky with GKD stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black.   Layered the image on a Red and White Check Pattern Paper and card base of Brown Cardstock  from stash.  Added border sentiment using a scrap of Pattern Paper found in scraps. (Looks crooked in photo but straight in real life.)

Another Christmas Card in August

Welcome to my blog!  Today I am posting a card for Joan's Garden Challenge to make a Vintage card , use a bird, use a scenic pattern paper, use a die for your sentiment, and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.  My Christmas Vintage card is made with a Webster Page from Waiting for Santa which I distressed with a paper distresser and Distress Ink Tea Dye. I wrapped this with twine from my stash and placed on a mat of Authentique striped paper from Collection Wonder. This went on a card base of Kraft Cardstock. I added the sentiment from GKD stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk on a die cut of parchment cut with Spellbinders Label 4 and layered on the striped paper cut with a larger Label 4. Finished with a leaf from stash and a red bird cut with a Marianne die. Thanks to my husband's suggestion,  I added some Stickles to the roof edges of the houses for sparkle.

Webster Pages (have hoarded these papers for awhile) were from Joan's Gardens but may not still be available. Marianne Die " House, Bird and Fence" and Memento Inks are available at Joan's too.  See details for challenge http://www.atjoansgardens.com/

Early Made Christmas Tag

It is never too early to prepare for Christmas so I decided to make a Christmas Tag for the BasicGrey Challenge #99 - Make a Tag.    I used Spellbinders Label 4 Dies to cut the front and back from a double side paper from BasicGrey Jovial found in my scraps. I cut 2 other pieces with a smaller die using another pattern paper from the same Jovial Pad.  I stamped one smaller diecut with a Sentiment from Creative Clear Stamp Set "Holiday Sentiments" using Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder. For the inside layer I stamped "To and From" stamp from GKD in Versamark and Red Embossing Powder.  I assembled the tag by adhering the smaller cutouts to the larger ones and using a Gold Tree Brad  and ribbon from stash to join both sides together. This allows the top of the tag to twist around so the inside can be viewed.  I hid the prongs of the brad on the back with an ornament cutout that I had made with Annabelle's Stamps and Diecut.  I was pleased that I used only scraps in the making of this tag.....no full sheets of paper were cut!

Summer Days Bring Butterflies

I am back....have been away from home and Internet connections so have missed cardmaking,  blogging and my blog friends.
Today I am sharing a Summer Time card that I made for Joan's Gardens challenge to use:
  • Die Cut image using the Negative
  • Colors of purple and white
  • Textured layer
  • Leaves
  • You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.
  • I started with a card base of White CS and used a mat of Purple CS using a Nesties Label 4 Die to create a negative cut to show thru to the base layer where I stamped a sentiment from Repeat Impressions with Memento Grape Jelly. I also used the dies to emboss around the sentiment. I also embossed the purple layer with Cuttlebug EF  Stylized Flowers for some texture.  I finished the card with a butterfly and the flourish with leaves. I cut these with Cheery Lynn dies Fanciful Flourish, Exotic Butterfly small #2, and Angel Wing. Cheery Lynn dies are available at Joan's Gardens. I created my own pattern paper for the butterfly by stamping white CS with Flourishes stamp "Lace Edges" with the Grape jelly ink and used white CS for the angel wing.
