Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge

Welcome to another Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge.  This week we are asking that you make a Child's Birthday Card. This is a difficult card for me as my cards tend to be more of the elegant, floral style-not the cute ones that children like. But the recently released stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. "Garden Art" made it easy for me to create this card for a child.  I just added in some bright colors that any child would like with this cute frog sitting on toadstools and singing out "Ribbit".

Challenges to enter:
The  Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge: Bright and Cheerful

Please join us in the challenge this week for a chance to win a MFP stamp Set. You have until 3PM on Friday August 3 to post your card. Remember, if you use MFP, a Heinrich Co. stamps your name will be entered into the drawing twice.

Stamps: MFP,a Heinrich Co. "Garden Art"

Asian Influence in Black

The challenge at CAS-UAL Friday is to create a CAS card using a black card base. That was easy enough but the difficult part was getting a decent photo.  My camera was not very cooperative because of the light exposure setting. Finally I made this shot showing that I heat embossed three Asian characters and a sentiment with gold EP on the black CS. Stamps are from "Asian Delights" a new set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.    Finished with Red and Gold Cord.   Tip: do not use a textured CS when doing this technique. A smooth CS  works much better.

I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Joan's Gardens

This card was made without the use of ink, copics, or stamps or harming any butterflies in the making for Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #26 .  We are  to make a butterfly card, use green and yellow, use something from nature (for instance a fern), and have at least 3 layers.  As soon as I read this challenge I pulled out some flowers that I had collected from my garden, dried and stored a few summers ago when I made some bookmarks. I have several flowers, leaves and stems saved from that project.  I started with a card base of Ivory CS, added a mat of Green CS, and then a pattern paper from Graphics 45 "Once Upon a Springtime" pad that I punched top and bottom with a Martha Stewart Douple Loop border. Now I added my something from nature....a dried Green Fern and a Yellow Pansy that I carefully glued to the card.  My finish was a doubled layered butterfly cut  with a Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly Small 2 die. I used 2 shades of yellow leaving one intact by using tape underneath the cutout and punching the lighter one out and attaching over the darker one. Attached some green rhinestones to the center of the Butterfly.   I did not add a sentiment on the front but will add later when I send or use on the inside.
Joan always has such fun challenges, some harder than others but always challenging.

Hexagons Are A Trend

Another quick post for today. Using hexagons on cards seems to be a current trend. I do not have any hexagon dies but I remembered this pattern paper in my stash of papers and decided to use it in a quick card. The paper has these great flowers that I cut from the design and used them layered on a section of the hexagon design from the same sheet from K&CO. I added copper brads, a butterfly and sentiment to complete the card. My card base is Moonlight Fog, a nice match to the flowers.
Challenges:
City Crafter: Use hexagons in your project.
Kaboodle Doodles: Our challenge this week is to create a project utilizing "What's In" in the crafting world - from banners, pennants, hexagons to pinwheels etc. Used Hexagons.

Supplies:
Stamp: MFP sentiment from "Island Life"
Inks: Memento London Fog, Ranger Distress ink
Papers: GKD Moonlight Fog CS, K&CO DP
Die: Cheery Lynn Small Butterfly, Nesties Rectangle
Copper Brads from Stash.

Recipe Card Challenge

I am almost forgot to post my recipe card that I created for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge.... to create a favorite summer (or any other season) recipe decorated with stamps!   I used Flourishes “Fresh Recipes” recipe card download that I printed on white card stock and used Flourishes “Garden Fresh" stamps  to decorate the cards.  I stamped the images and sentiments with Memento Tuxedo Black and Colored with Copics. I am showing one that I left empty and another complete with a recipe. I made my cards 4x6.  Closeup of the Radish recipe shown below.  You may click and save a copy...left watermark off in case you wanted to save.

I made this recipe for dinner last night. My DH liked it and he is not a big fan of salads.

Friends of Speedy TV Challenge

The challenge at FOSTV is to make a Joy Fold Card.  Do you know why they are called Joy Fold cards? I once read it is because they are a "JOY" to make.  And mine was a joy to make because I used the recently released stamps from MFP's "Asian Delights" which I must say is a real delight of a stamp set.  The photo of the front of my card features the 3 Geishas simply stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Black EP. Added just a bit of Red Color on the design. The photo includes some coins that my DH provided from his collection. Inside I featured some of the Oriental Characters also embossed with Black EP on the pattern paper that I used and placed on gold mats.
Supplies:
Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. "Asian Delights"

Inks: Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black, TH Distress Ink Aged Mahogany (Used on Geishas)
Embossing Powder: Ranger Black
Papers: White, Black, Gray, and Gold Metallic CS, Pattern Paper from K&CO

For those who enter the challenge at Speedy TV this week, you have a chance to win a MFP, a Heinrich Co stamp shown here.

Impressionist Path

This is a different style of card for me. I was just playing with stamps and inks and came up with this card. I was trying to see if I could create a summer scene using a stamp of trees which was intended to be a winter scene. The stamp is from Mark's Finest Papers "Ice and Snow".  I stamped the barren trees with versamark and embossed with Zing Chestnut EP. Then I began adding color with Copics and then TH Distress inks until I was satisfied with the scene. Letting my artistic side out. I ended up with sort of an Impressionist look.  Stamped sentiment from MFP's  "Peaceful Nuthatch" in Memento Rich Cocoa .  Used textured paper from DCWV Safari Pack and Brown CS and Brown ribbon from stash.
This card fits into the Speedy TV Challenge Simple Salutations #3 to  create a card with a tree image and add a sentiment as your salutation to the front of the card.

Are you ever challenged to use a stamp for something other than its intended use?
I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Another Christmas Card

Sometimes I love to pull out an old stamp and use in a way that I have not used before. I used this stamp  with emboss resist and colored with distress inks to create a new look in this Christmas card. I think it has a stained glass look.  I have added a lot of color after I stamped with versamark and heat embossed with gold EP.  I colored with 4 distress inks by using sponging and watercolor techniques. I love the look of matting on the gingham DP.

Get Sentimental

At Flourishes Timeless Tuesday the challenge is all about getting “sentimental” and using a sentiment as the centerpiece of your card or creation. I stamped the sentiment from "Heart Lines" with Memento Rhubarb Stalk on a circle of Ivory CS and placed on a doily cut with Cheery Lynn  French Pastry from a Pattern Paper by K&CO. My card base is a lustrous CS in Oyster Pearl which has a beautiful sheen but not seen that well in the photo. I finished with a heart border punched with an EK punch.

Would like to be lucky enough to win the latest Flourishes release stamp sets with this entry. Fingers are  crossed. Wish me luck.

I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Friends at Speedy TV Get Sketchy

Welcome to Friends of Speedy TV challenge this week. We are asking you to make a card with the sketch shown below. I made  my card using Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. stamp "I'm In Stitches" and a pattern paper background that I found in my stash.  I stamped the sewing machine on white CS with black ink and added some gold and silver. My original design did not include the pin cushion but I decided I needed a punch of color. I made several attempts to get the look that I wanted. Finally ended up stamping on white CS with versamark and used red embossing powder and then sponged with green distress ink.  Changed the card base to red  to make it all come together.

Use this sketch for your card this week.
For those who enter the challenge at Speedy TV this week, you have a chance to win a MFP, a Heinrich Co stamp shown here.

Welcome to another Speedy Fox and Friends challenge. This week we are asking you to make a Masculine Birthday Card. To inspire you, I have made a card with a sneak peek of Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. I used 2 papers tearing the bottom one that looks like tall grass and attaching to the other that looks like a sunset in the Serengeti. Stamped the elephant silhouettes in black, cut out, and attached to the background. Used a dark brown card base.

Chair inside the Garden

At Craft a Scene this month the challenge is to create a scene from "inside the garden". Some of my favorites things to do are garden and make cards with flowers and nature themes.  So I loved seeing this as the theme at Craft a Scene which is becoming a favorite challenge blog. For my scene, I used a very old stamp...not sure how old ...from Stamps Happen by D. Morgan called "Time Changes Many Things"....."But not the joy of your Friendship"is the rest of the text on the stamp. After stamping with Versafine Onyx Black on white CS, I colored with Koh-I-Noor Pencils and Memento Markers. As you can see I used a lot of colors but kept the layout simple. I trimmed the image rounding the top 2 corners and attached to a Textured Green Card Base.  This scene was a bit of a challenge to color.

How does your garden grow? My flowers are welcoming the cooler temps.
Thanks for dropping by. I welcome all comments. Theresa

Friends of Speedy TV Challenge

This week at Friends of Speedy TV, we are thinking of Vacations and that is the theme of our challenge this week. I made a simple card making use of this paper with tropical flowers that remind me of the tropical birds Flamingos. I stamped the bird from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. "Flamingos on Vacation" on white CS with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics R85 and Orange and Pink Glaze pens. I cut out the image and attached to the pattern paper. I colored in the flowers with Copics R85 and stamped the sentiment from the same set with SU Pixie Pink.  Embossed the side with Cuttlebug EF With Love border. Attached all together on a card base of Bazzill Pink CS.   This was an easy card...the only hard part was finding all the right pink elements that went together.
On left, showing the DCWV paper from Tahiti Beach Mat before coloring.

For those who enter the challenge at Speedy TV this week, you have a chance to win a MFP, a Heinrich Co stamp "Flamingos on Vacation".

Do you have Vacation plans for the summer?

Doily for My Thank You Card

When I saw a challenge to use a doily but you could not use a paper one, a die cut one or a crochet one, I remembered this love doily stamp from GKD "Nana's Needlework" that I  have not used lately since I starting use die cut ones. I stamped the round doily on Glossy White CS with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger White EP. I then added Tim Holtz Distress Inks Broken China and Tumbled Glass to bring out the Doily. Added the sentiment from GKD "Needlework Sentiments", made the corner trims in the same manner as the doily, and added real lace across the bottom to finish. This card has great texture.
Challenges:
City Crafter Challenge: Hello Doily- Use doily patterned paper, doily embossing or  doily stamps.
Saturday Challenge: Secret Crafters-Use Pastel Colors
